Staatsburgh Award of Distinction

The very prestigious Dutchess Tourism History Award of Distinction was awarded to the Staatsburgh State Historic Site on May 9, 2017.

Congratulations and thanks to the hard working staff and all the many volunteers at Staatsburgh Mills Mansion!

The most popular thing visitors want to do when they come to Dutchess County is to visit our many outstanding historic sites. Staatsburgh has won this award because it provides a unique look into the rich history of our area and has done an outstanding job of differentiating itself from the other, more well-known sites visitors seek out.

By offering special themed tours, interesting interpretations, and connecting itself topically to current happenings, this site provides a memorable experience for its visitors.

Staatsburgh’s Gilded Age Tea & Talk series, their Downton Abbey, Titanic, and WWI-themed tours and other special programming allow people to connect with the Mills Family in a unique way by allowing them a glimpse of that era.

According to Dutchess Tourism President, CEO Mary Kay Vrba, “The Awards of Distinction are a way for us to celebrate the excellent work our tourism partners are doing to create a Distinctly Dutchess experience for the millions of visitors that travel to the Hudson Valley every year.” She added, “They are the reason we have been recognized by National Geographic Traveler, Fodor’s, Lonely Planet, and The National Travel Association’s Courier Magazine as one of the top destinations in the world!”

Proudly accepting the award is Pam Malcolm, Staatsburgh State Historic Site director with  Marc Molinaro, Dutchess County Executive and Mary Kay Virba, Dutchess Tourism President at the awards breakfast. It was a great day for Staatsburgh and for all the staff that made it happen.
